Over 35 Years
of Taekwondo Mastery.
Founded in 1974 by Grandmaster Lee in Brazil, Sun Lee Taekwondo first opened it's door in Texas in 1987 and has been a cornerstone of the Richardson, TX community for over 35 years. Grandmaster Lee — with over 40 years of experience — began his teaching journey in South America, where he trained the Brazilian Police Force and military soldiers before bringing his mastery to Dallas–Fort Worth.
"Grandmaster Lee is a dedicated teacher, philosopher, and leader in the development of Taekwondo. His life's work is to study and cultivate the art."
Today, led by Master Jason Lee, our certified team carries on that same tradition — teaching the five tenets of Taekwondo: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Confidence.

02 / Reviews"My son started here at 5 years old. Now he's 10, a green belt, and the most disciplined kid in his class. This school changed our family."
"I started as an adult with zero martial arts experience. The instructors are patient, encouraging, and incredibly skilled. Best decision I've made."
"My son Jacob has had an amazing year. His self-confidence has drastically increased — impacting academics and relationships. Can't thank Master Jason enough."
WHAT IS A
MAT
CHAT?
The conversation at the end of every class that parents say changes everything.
"The physical skills are great — but in my opinion, it's the character lessons that distinguish Taekwondo training from other sports."
— Master Jason Lee, Voyage Dallas MagazineMost people who sign their kids up for Taekwondo are thinking about kicks, belts, and maybe some self-confidence. They get all of that here. But at Sun Lee Taekwondo, there is one thing that happens at the end of every single class that you won't find on any schedule. It's called a Mat Chat.
Instead of a "repeat after me" lesson, Master Jason Lee sits down with students and talks. They define what a character value means, discuss how it shows up in real life, and — most importantly — students are required to bring a personal story from their own life to their belt promotion test as proof they've actually lived it.
After 19+ years of doing this, Master Jason Lee has developed one of the most distinctive character-development programs in martial arts. Parents don't just notice better kicks. They notice better kids.
